Goethe was born in Frankfurt am Main on the 28 of august 1749. He was one of the most imortant authors and thinker in the western culture.
His parents were wealthy and well known in the 18 century . Goethe was the first son, who survived after the birth.
He started he first study when he was 16 years old in law and drawing at the Leipzip University, which lasted until 1768 when he became a serious illness. The people thought that he got the syphilles, because he felt in love with a woman and the people speculated that. In this time he wrote his first romance "The Lover`s Caprice". After his illness he resumed in 1770 until 1771 his studies in Sptraßbourgh. The reason was his father, who didn't encourage him to spend too much time in writing. On the other hand his mother supported him in his literary dreams, which he followed. When he finished his studies he went back to Frankfurt and practised law in Frankfurt until he started in 1773 to work for the "Frankfurter Gelehrten Anzeige".
During this work he published one of his most famous books in 1774 "The soorows of Young Werther".
The following years he worked for several governmental offices in Weimar. At that time he did scientical researches as well and discovered an important scientif fact, the human intermaxilary bone which was similar to Plato's theory of archetypal form. Furthermore Goethe's research influenced Darwin with his focus on plant morphology.
According to Goethe's writing, he wrote a lot of poems and letters, but his biggest and worl most damous work was the two parts of FAUST (poetic drama). His first part of FAUST was published in 1805.
In Straßbourg he found a woman with whom he got married. However she was his mistress. His last work before he died, was FAUST the second part. He died of a disease on the 22 of March 1831 and his last work was published after his death.
